Vrieseas are members of the Bromeliad plant family and is a cousin of the edible pineapple fruit. There are hundreds of species of Vriesea and they are native to Central and South America. They make wonderful house plants and are often used in vivariums, housed with geckos, frogs, or other interesting reptiles and amphibians.
They are easy to keep and grow and produce showy spikes of colorful inflorescence depending on the species. The plant in the photo here will not be in flower when shipped as it is younger and immature. They are typically shipped in 2-3" pots.
