Stylidium debile is a carnivorous plant endemic to the Queensland and NSW areas of Australia. The common name of 'Trigger Plant' comes from the mobile stigma of the flower that 'snaps' over onto the pollinating insect. It is fun to watch if you use a tiny straw to tease the flower! The plant bears numerous sticky glands, especially on the flower stalk, that secrete digestive enzymes. It is an amazingly easy to grow little plant perfectly at home in any moist terrarium. The plant only grows to a couple inches across and seems never to stop blooming!
