Borneo Exotics Description:
History: First introduced to cultivation in Dec 2015, this item was only occasionally available due to high demand. It was then transferred to our auctions, in January 2019 and was last auctioned later that same month. It appeared on our online shop for the first time in July 2019, before being removed due to low stocks in Mar 2020. In Oct 2020, it was offered again after being unavailable for the previous 7 months.
This item has been hugely popular whenever it’s been available, as it combines ease of growth with striking pitchers and as the photos show, it’s a particularly prolific producer of pitchers.
The male parent is the large Lumut form of N. hamata sold under BE-3380 & BE-3715. Pitchers are somewhat variable in coloration, but most are handsomely red-flecked. There will be some variability between individuals, but all the plants we have seen are colorful, with nearly black peristomes when mature. The photos shown here are representative and may not be identical clones to plants shipped. One of the photos shows a green tree frog, which opportunistically took up residence in one of the pitchers on a plant in our nursery.
