The species is revered for the upper traps, funnel shaped with a fantastically wide and flattened peristome. The lower traps are more typical in shape and are cream colored with dark burgundy splotches and streaks. Although rare, we have found them to be no more difficult to grow than other highland species such as N. lowii and N. rajah.
