One of the most bizarre and unusual trees that will leave an everlasting impression when visiting the rainforest is the Strangler Fig. It is a hemiepiphyte, meaning that it grows temporarily as an epiphyte on its host tree, sending roots downward until they reach the ground. As the roots develop, they circle and entangle the trunk of their host very tightly. The roots seem to melt together to form a strangle-like grip which offers it support until it is large and strong enough to stand on its own. By this point, the host often dies, then rots away, leaving the remarkable hollow skeleton that you see here.
Extremely limited and rarely seen available elsewhere for sale, we are offering a handful of unique select specimens for the discerning client. Can be used in large natural habitats, zoo and nature displays, or as ornamental natural wood furnishings and decor. Imagine this in your home or office with a light illuminating the interior from the base! Simply one of a kind.
