| Description |
| Drosophila melanogaster "apterous". Small flightless fruit fly about the half the size of a pinhead cricket. This form lacks any wings so tends to be the smallest form. The trade-off is that it it one of the least vigorous strains when culturing so yields are not as high.
Now sold as a large 32 oz. size feeder culture. Produces up to a few thousand flies over a 3-5 week period. Yields may vary and are dependent upon usage, temperature and relative humidity, or other environmental conditions. (Easier than hydei) ATTENTION!
