Dendrobates truncatus was a relatively late-comer into the hobby and quickly became popular with hobbyists. The yellow form was first to be introduced and sports neon yellow stripes bordering the back along with yellow markings on the legs and sides. Pretty blue reticulations cover the belly. Adults reach a total length of approx. 1”-1.25”, similar to Hawaiian D. auratus. These are very easy to keep and breed in the terrarium and do well in pairs or groups. Their call, while similar to the closely related D. auratus and D. tinctorius, is a bit louder and easier to hear. These should be in many more collections than they are.
