Description

Dioscorea macrostachya - Nicknamed "Turtle Vine" because of it's strange but interesting caudex (swollen base). This vine is not a terrarium plant but it is an oddity that makes an easy houseplant as well as a great conversation piece! Grow it in a shallow bowl under dryer conditions. A few weeks after planting, the tuber will sprout sending up a fast growing vine with 5" glossy, heart-shaped leaves. Although the vine can grow to 20'-30' long, it can be easily trimmed back to maintian it within a given area. The caudex grows slowly but can ultimately reach a few feet across. Likes bright light. Sold as an unrooted tuber. This size includes some exceptional specimens! These are rarely available and we have just a few so don't wait or they will be gone! NOTE: this item will be shipped seperately via ground from live plant shipments and will incur a surcharge due to the heavy weight of these large tubers.
