Frogging Tour? While our tours are somewhat focused on seeing exotic frogs of the rainforest, nature lovers will agree that our tours will satisfy a wide spectrum of interests within the realm of exotic flora and fauna. Plan to see Toucans, Parrots, Sloths, Monkeys, Reptiles & Amphibians, Countless Insects and if were lucky- Sea Turtles!

Day 1: Travel Day. Plan your trip to arrive on this day, (September 25th) preferably during daylight hours. If you land early enough, you may have time to add a visit to a local zoo or butterfly park. We stay at Pura Vida Hotel, a great stopover located just minutes away from the airport. There are 6 individual 2-6 person casitas among beautifully landscaped gardens. Breakfast included.

Day 2: Breakfast is at 7:30 and we depart at 8:30 traversing Braulio Carrillo National Park. Our first stop will be a Sloth Sanctuary on the Caribbean where we will take a tour that consists of a 1 hour canoe ride to see wild sloths followed by a tour of the facilities at the Sanctuary. We stop for lunch along the way, then head to Playa Chiquita Lodge, south of Puerto Viejo. We stay for 3 nights near a secluded beach. Rooms are basic but they do have internet access if needed. After dinner, perhaps we can do some night hiking. Breakfast is included here.

Day 3: After breakfast, we visit a Bri Bri Oophaga pumilio population. After this, we grab lunch in the indiginous town of Bri Bri, then set forth to explore a second pumilio site. We return later to wind down, take a swim, then have dinner.

Day 4: Snorkle, relax, or explore the grounds and beach after breakfast. We will gather at 11am to visit the Jaguar Rescue Center at 11:30. After a guided tour, we visit the laid back Caribbean town of Puerto Viejo for lunch.

Day 5: Have breakfast then enjoy the beach before our drive to Casa Rio Blanco. On the way, we will visit Cahuita National Park to see the Howler & Capuchin monkeys among other wildlife. We explore the trails. Breakfast is included.

Day 6: Have breakfast then optional activity such as horseback riding or hiking the local trails for a couple of hours. After lunch, we then head to the Costa Rican Amphibian Research Center, founded and operated by Brian Kubicki where we will be given an afternoon tour of the grounds and facility, have dinner, then return for an amazing guided night hike on his preserve. (somewhat strenuous) (You will be happy to know that we will be donating a portion of our proceeds to help support Brians goals with the CRARC.)

Day 7: Have breakfast then have our day open for an optional Arial tour and Canopy (Zipline) Tour. Would anyone prefer whitewater rafting instead? We will then have a nice dinner by evening.

Day 8: Travel Day. We leave for the airport based on the earliest traveller but hopefully, everyone will plan their flights to depart in the afternoon or later part of the day. Plan your departing flight on this day, (Oct. 2nd) If you leave late enough, you may have time to take in an additional activity such as a visit to the local zoo or butterfly park.

The small size of the group, consisting of only 12 guests, will allow for a much more personalized experience. The guides, each with their own area of expertise, will help to educate and enlighten you on the flora and fauna of the tropics. Although focused on the amphibian life, it is impossible to ignore the rest of the forest life. We will explore the amazing diversity of plants as well, including the multitudes of ferns, orchids, bromeliads, tropical trees and flowers. The result is a complete Natural History experience, allowing you to appreciate the ecosystem as a whole.

Prices are for Double Occupancy (possibility of up to Quad Occupancy). Price includes lodging, breakfast, ground travel, entrance fees, tours & guide fees.
Optional or unplanned tours that may become available are not included in the price.
